More

Tomorrow (later today) I'm gonna write about my trip to Belgrade, and about coming home and getting a big cold swedish slap in the face x) It feels so good and safe to be home, but I'm already longing for the next time, and the next, when I can leave this country behind me and travel south once again. I had such a great time, and I want more.

Step into my office, baby

My imaginary friends.

I'm drawing and drawing and drawing and the result is close to nothing. Well, I guess 3,5 pages of Malmö comics so far is something, but I had planned to be done with at least 6 by now. Whatever, I'll have to continue when I get back home.

I will pack tomorrow. :) I'm so nervous. I've diagnosed myself with travel fever, and I feel like an excited little kid. Really happy, and scared to death at the same time. I really look forward to it though.. I will probably be lost all the time, buy too many comics, and overdose on ajvar and cheap beer...
So why am I nervous? That sounds fucking fantastic, Jenny.

I am missing out on something while I'm away, and that's the big Book Fair in Göteborg. It's massive, packed with sweating people, books and cheaper (not quite cheap) comics. I hope that my friends will have a great time there this year, but that I will have an even greater time so that I won't feel jealous when I get back x)

Proof that I am alive and well. And drinking hot chocolate.

Mormor

Work in progress :)
This is the drawing that I was talking about the other day. It's supposed to be me and my grandmother, from my 3rd birthday party. So the photo was taken in... january 1992. Åh! I wish I still had a cute sailor-dress!
I'm 20 years older, but my grandmother looks almost the same as she did back then. I've been planning to draw something for her for ages, because she is the worlds nicest grandmother. But I didn't have time to do it for her birthday, so I guess it'll be a completely random september-gift, or october-gift, instead.

Check it out y'all

Kolla in:

Now I have my own little cosy corner on the BOOOM page. Have a look!

Hey, I'm okay.

* För någon vecka sedan flyttade vår nya inneboende Frida in.

You guys wouldn't stand a chance against my kind of cyborg.
I thought I would share a list with you today, because I love writing lists. They make life seem simple and straight-forward. 4 coolest things that happened in the past 10 days:

* Today I finally booked my first trip to Serbia (26/9 - 1/10). And I say first because I have decided to go there 2 times during this fall. Mmmm :) Now in the end of September I will make a quick stop at the comic festival in Belgrade, and gather information about interesting places/organisations/people to investigate closer when I come back to Serbia next time. October will be so stressful that it's ridiculous, so I decided to go after the AltCom festival in Malmö, sort of in the middle of November, and stay longer that time to gather material for new comics. During trip #2 I will move outside of the capital aswell, to Novi Sad, maybe some village, and maybe even take a train to Bosnia for a few days. Oh, exciting and scary, this stuff.

* Our new flatmate Frida moved in about a week ago. <3 She's a really sweet person, and fact is that I couldn't afford to travel outside of Malmö if it wasn't for the extra rent-money, so I'm grateful.

* Finally got a hold of the worlds busiest doctor. After a uncomfortable phonecall it was decided that my blood will be drained yet again and studied under a microscope, or whatever it is they do with it. My hormones are a bit fucked up, and apparently it's hard to fix that. I suspect that I have become the victim of a top-secret experiment, and that my blood is being used to breed killer cyborgs. Probably not, you say. The swedish government loves to sell weapons, I say.

* I noticed that the blog has reached more than 6.000 pageviews. Even if it turs out that it's the same people that click their way over here 2-3 times a week and I actually don't have that many readers, I'm still glad.

They do, and they deserve hugs. <3

3 koppar senare

- scroll down for english -

Puss hej.
Realised that this is the latest realistic graphite
drawing I made - over a yeeeear ago. It's time.

This afternoon the thought of doing anything creative felt like a hopeless cause. Now I have in front of me semi-finished scripts for at least 5 short comics. I don't know where that inspiration came from.. Maybe green chai tea does magic for tired illustrators. Or my brain felt that it was time to wake up and be of some use after not doing anything all day.

I should have started drawing right away, but instead I started planning. The trip to Serbia, comics, the entire fucking fall and some of the winter, more comics, festivals, scholarships I'm gonna apply to, and projects I want to be a part of. I want to do soo many things these upcoming months, fun things, and I will try to make time for them all somehow.. Have to keep myself busy busy busy, so I don't think too much.

I almost forgot. I'm working on a drawing (a gift for my grandmother, hush hush) and tomorrow I will show you how it looks so far. Because an art blog without art is a bit useless. Have to stop blogging now because I'm starting to feel a bit weird. So, weirdness and art is on it's way. Tune in tomorrow. At least mentally, if you don't have internet access.
Kiss kiss bye bye.

Bara teckna, inte plugga

- scroll down for english -

This is Gdansk. City of the Baltic Comic Festival. Gdansk is awesome.
I haven't had a lot of time to blog lately, because I've been busy working on a new comic. But now it's finally finished! I sat cooped up in the bedroom, drawing and listening to Sherlock Holmes audiobooks all week. It was cosy and stressful at the same time.

The Comic School started about 2 weeks ago and today a lot of people are entering the university. I was accepted to a comic course at Malmö University, but I decided that I won't attend it. I'm so excited and motivated to start this comic-drawing-business for real, and I don't feel like becoming a student again. My ex-teacher Stina (at least I think it was Stina) once said that one has to take any job there is, and just draw a lot - because that is how one gets better at making comics.

I want to get better and better and better, but not content.

The new comic is telling the story about when I went to Baltic Comic Festival this summer, and I will publish it here eventually. I just need to fix some details.

Here's a song to all you hard working people out there. Puss!

A trip, a drawing and a stupid book.

Today, before I went to the gym I searched for some audiobook that I could listen to while working out. It was a good way to distract myself, but it almost didn't work because I got crazy giggle-attacks several times during the work-out!
The audiobook is named "From the Balkans to the Baltics. 1989-1991. An illustrated Travel journal." by Marcus L. Endicott. First of all, the guy who reads it is not doing a good job. He pronounces things with an extreme american accent and puts the emphasis on the wrong words. Anyway, that Marcus guy.. I thought he would have something interesting to say, because he travelled through eastern Europe, just like I want to do. Only, he did it in one trip, and on a bike. I listened to the introduction, and his trip through Serbia and Bulgaria, then I had enough and I let Freddie Mercury save my ears.

Marcus complains about everything, mostly about prices and people trying to rip him off. Oh, I wonder why.. When all he does is throw money around him and act like he's super important. He describes people as rednecks, gypsies, "less civilized", and so on...
Stupid man. You can not demand anything from anyone, they owe you nothing! Be greatful when people do something for you. You are a tourist, but it's their life. Oh, just fuck off.
Zzzzzz.
I also went to the festival today. I didn't go to a concert. I didn't buy an "I <3 Zlatan" fridge magnet. I just like to walk around in big crowds, look at people, smell the different foods.. It's relaxing in some weird way.
About that picture above, I made it a few months ago, and it's just a part of the drawing. It's me, dreaming about Europe, obviously. Resting my head on Serbia and hiding Greece somewhere under the covers, haha.
I've been looking at plane-tickets from Malmö to Belgrade in september-october, and getting a bit excited. Allons-y! Like The Doctor would say :) [Nerd]

Well, hopefully soon. But I have some stuff I need to take care of in Malmö first. Like a festival-report, more comics about Greece, and so on..

Stories from Greece - #1 "Losers"

Hello hello! Here's that comic I was talking about before, my first comic about Greece. It's called "Losers", and it's about media and about how Europe is bullying Greece to obedience. As I already mentioned there will be more comics about Greece soon, on other subjects and with new looks. I will colour this comic properly at some other, less stressful time.
(Läs serien på svenska HÄR.)

Historier från Grekland - #1 "Förlorare"

Hej hej!

Statistik

Good morning, world! Well, I've been up since 9 as usual, but that's not the point. Here's some sweet statistics for ya. This is the views in total since I started the blog, and of course it's mostly swedish people who are reading it, but lately there has been a lot of russians, (Hello Russians!) aswell as other eastern europeans. Maybe because I talk about eastern Europe and Balkan all the freaking time, but it's nice anyway. Soooo, if you like my comics or me or whatever, and you think I should go to your country/town for some reason, send me and e-mail or something, because I'm looking for subjects to make comics about.

Now I'm going out because it's the last day my bus card is valid, so I feel that I should use it and not sit inside. See you later :)
